El Salam Private School in Luxor

It was a small school established in 1891. Ms/ Keria Tadrous was the first teacher in El Salam Private School at that time.
- She was the first girl who enrolled in a school outside Luxor.
- At that time there were dual systems of education (Kuttab): one serving the masses attending traditional Islamic schools and another called Madrasa (Arabic word for school) that offered a more modern educational pedagogy.
- She completed her studies in the American Schools in Asyut whereas she travelled by a streamer due to the unavailability of railways.
- She served as a teacher for 45 years and then retired.
Afterwards Ms/ March took over her role, followed by Dr/Buecannen who placed the foundation of the existing building. The construction of the first floor was accomplished in 1901. The school started to operate with a total of 70 students.
Later on, Ms/ Hewhite Site took over, followed by Ms/ Glass, followed by Ms / Martha Roy who worked as a musical expert for the Council of Churches Affairs. Afterwards Ms/ Mofida Kelada was designated as a principal for the school followed by Mr/ Safwat Tadrous and then Mr/ Michael Farid who has been the principal of the school  since 1/11/1995.
